Rovercraft is an exciting 2D driving game where players take on the role of an astronaut tasked with exploring distant planets in a rover. While the idea of driving vehicles on other planets may sound like a far-off dream, Rovercraft brings that fantasy to life by letting players drive rovers across diverse alien terrains. In this thrilling game, you’ll need more than just driving skills – engineering know-how is key to succeeding.
In Rovercraft, players are sent on missions to explore various planets using a rover designed for each world’s unique surface. The game blends driving with engineering, as you not only control the rover but also manage repairs and upgrades. Rovers often break down, and it’s up to you to fix and improve them using resources earned through gameplay.
As a trained astronaut and engineer, your mission is to drive the rover as far as possible, completing challenges and unlocking new planets along the way. The game’s objective is simple: drive as far as you can while keeping your astronaut safe and conserving energy.
Rovercraft features easy-to-use keyboard or mouse controls. Use the Left/Right Arrow keys to navigate your rover in the respective directions. The terrain map and energy levels are displayed at the bottom of the screen, helping you manage your journey. If your rover runs out of energy or the astronaut takes damage, you’ll need to restart.
Once the tutorial is complete, you can choose to complete missions on different planets or dive into challenge modes. Challenge modes allow you to assemble and drive your rover, adding a layer of customization to the gameplay. Earn coins and mercury by driving, collecting items, and completing tasks to upgrade your rover and astronaut’s outfits.
Mastering Rovercraft requires a balance between speed and stability. A heavier rover is more stable but consumes more energy, while a lighter rover is faster but less stable. Alternate between the Left and Right Arrow keys to keep your rover steady and avoid tipping over, especially when navigating uneven terrain.
